More anti-theism from the liberal media...

So here at Australia's Daily Telegraph, it was time for them to again trot out one of the tried-and-true class warfare dog-and-pony shows to try to make their audience believe that theists aren't as intelligent as anti-theists (even though they used the word "atheists" instead).

Look... spirituality is an individual choice, and I happen to know alot of very intelligent people who are theists (like those who aren't zealots), and alot of really stupid people who are anti-theists (like those who are zealots).

But such class warfare ignores these things... it's goal is to brainwash people into believing that mob mentalities are the best ways to think.

So the AP put out a story today entitled

Surprising fact: Half of gun deaths are suicides

In this story they crowed that some 55% of firearm-related deaths in 2005 were suicides. Of course every news outlet with a related anti-gun agenda picked this up in the light of the recent SCOTUS ruling that the 2nd amendment, just like all the other amendments in the Bill of Rights, were enumerated for individuals.

So what if suiciders used guns? This was back when they were illegal in DC anyhow. It's illegal to kill yourself for any reason by any method anyway. I hardly think that if someone really wants to do the big deed that some bed-wetter is going to stop them by taking away guns. They'll just find something else.

Here's a headline that should cause more consternation:

Jeez... wouldn't make more sense to be more worried about people who didn't mean to hurt themselves but did anyway rather than those that want to kill themselves and happen to choose a rather effective method?

Guess it's more important to continue whining about having lost a battle.

BTW... I got the poisoning stats from the same place that the AP got the firearm-suicide stats.

What a pompous, self-righteous wingnut! Mr. Cavett can't find true fault with material content, so instead to project some image of badness, he discredits heroes such as soldiers, firemen, and policemen with paragraphs and paragraphs of achievement hating or by picking at the manner by which they speak all while trying to speak over the heads of his audience. This is what he chooses to do with the security and freedom that these heroes provide and defend.

Today's tidbits come from my reading of the articles at Fox News:

1. Apparently the major oil companies are taking heat from Democrat congressmen because they had $100B in profits last year. What they're not telling you is that Government made $440B in (plundered) profits from Big Oil last year. ExxonMobil alone is reported to have paid more in taxes than the lower half of all individual income earners last year. Who's the bad guy here? Remember that Thomas Sowell quote I included yesterday?
   
   
2. A Madison, WI high school student is suing the Tomah School District because he refused to remove religious references from a project he turned in and earned a zero. I hope he wins big on this one. If the government schools want to separate church and state, then they have to keep antitheism out too.
   
   
3. A related story alludes to a less than 50% graduation rate in a large number of the largest US cities. The problem here is two-fold: lack of teaching of personal responsibility AND failure of our school systems to be much more than indoctrination centers.
   
   
4. Yeah, gas prices are up and the economy's cooling down right now, but are we really in a recession or depression as the lamestream media want everyone to believe? Economic conditions were actually worse in 2000 near the end of the Clinton Administration, but you never heard a blurb about the economy being so bad. Couldn't possibly be that we had a Democrat president at the time and have a GOP president now, could it? Couldn't possibly have anything to do with the fact that the US sheeple believe everything they hear in the press and the media are leveraging that in an election year, could it? The single-largest factor in the cause of any possible recession or depression right now is the media reporting.

So Fox News rolled out a digital countdown clock to mark the closing of polls. Ok, fine. But why do they have to show precision to the tenths of seconds in the closing minute? What is it that's going on that it's so crucial that we have this precision?

Just a little silly to me, and since I have an innate need to rant...

McCain takes the high road, Cunningham takes the low road...

So, yesterday Bill Cunningham of WLW 700 AM in Cincinnati opens for John McCain by making some low blows at Barack Obama. McCain takes the high road, accepting responsibility for Cunningham's low-brow actions and apologizing to Senator Obama. Next thing you know, Cunningham proclaims to be voting for Hillary Clinton.

Clown. Apparently, Cunningham's presence was more about him that it was supporting John McCain.

Okay... while I'm ranting...

So here we are again... the lights are out in South Florida, and Fox News has to start wall-to-wall coverage of the event like the end of the world's about to arrive. They pulled this shit last week with an airplane with a gear-light indicator.

Reminds me of the local stations here in Oklahoma that go into Whopper-Doppler mode anytime moisture falls from the sky.

Look, I normally watch Fox News because as a libertarian (and regardless of what the lefties like to scream), I have found that they are the least biased of the networks (and, to be honest, they have the best looking female reporters). But that doesn't mean that I blindly support them in everything they do.

Gimme a break. I switched over to CNN (Clinton News Network), and was ready to shoot myself within 30 seconds of hearing Wolf Blitzer. Guess I'll just turn off the TV.

Boy... that's one classy lady...

By now, I'm sure y'all have heard about Jane Fonda's use of the C-word on a live national television broadcast. If not, have a look at this clip from NBC's The Today Show:



What's the reaction been? Some very calm reporting. You've got to remember, when I was told Jane Fonda said "C-word" on TV, I thought that they meant she said "Commie". After all, she is a leftist icon. And this is why she'll get away with this without much more than a slap on the wrist, if even that. I mean, she couldn't even apologize for her sexist remark in person... NBC had to trot out one of their people and come up with some half-ass deal.

Let me tell you, this was much worse than a Golf Channel saying the word "lynch" or Imus saying "nappy-headed ho's" (and I hate Imus). But remember, these people gave an opportunity for the media to put up stories about someone hating on those in their favored protected classes. Those kind of stories sell. But Jane Fonda... well, she is a member of the very protected left her slur was against.

Now, you might think that I'm being a touch ridiculous about all this, and perhaps I am. But damnit, I get tired of this bullshit double standard.

This is all the more reason to believe that today's sexism and racism are driven largely by people who (1) have no idea what they're talking about, (2) are looking to take advantage of the situation for their own gain, (3) won't shut the fuck up, and (4) are too naive or ignorant about the problem. In other words, if we could get those that bring gender and race into every consideration they make to stop, then racism and sexism would largely go away. Yes, I know there will always be people who will hate regardless. But the influence they have will go away through natural selection if we IGNORE those who hate but don't commit a crime, and PUNISH those who do commit crimes. You self-proclaimed progressive liberals who love to hate intelligent design should be able to understand this.

So, where's all the doom and gloom today?

The Dow was up 2.5% today. Where was all the crowing about this? Not in the mainstream media. After all, there's Republican in the White House and another financial success story afoot. Oh, and Heath Ledger died yesterday.
